Our Mission

What we believe, why we started, and what we're trying to change about the way law gets done.

We seek to enrol the best and highest quality lawyers within our business. We do so because we understand the implications of the law in society as it stands today. We know the role it plays in everyone’s lives, that being our clients and our consultants.

As a business we stand with lawyers. We have ourselves but also we have seen the implications of the rigid structure of the law and the society it creates. We know the minimisation it creates, the marginalising of society into brackets of people. Our people are varied, combined and strong.

We work with consultants who want to appease the system and play their role - they want to do better than this but indeed we find it hard to do so alone. We want to build structures which uplift and inspire.

We are not another law firm. We are a law firm that often stands alone. We are bold in our communcation style and we hold ourselves to a standard - one which do not often (or ever ) fall short of. We hold the standard why ?

Because we know the cost of not doing so. We know the mental health implications on lawyers far and wide. We know the conversation around what it is to be a lawyer today in this society. We know the lengthy hours and whilst we don’t often times berate the fact we do it - we do so because we love our work for the most part - we do often feel we have limited say in our ability to stand up and be counted. We try to speak again the system and the system often knocks us back down. We see this happen, both on instagram, in today’s culture where people want to communicate and share their thoughts. We see it in the press - most times the condescending manner in which lawyers are spoken about. To be clear, this is not our pity party, this is our voice of change.

We do not want to be another law firm. We want to be the change.

To often we are controlled by the rigid perspectives of others around who we are and how we should perform.

We are controlled by the narcissism which often comes from those in power which seeks to diminish our capacity to speak. We want to speak. We want to tell our truth and we want others to do the same.

Not another law firm, but a firm which stands with you and for you. Both as clients and consultants.

How ? We do this by -

Holding ourselves accountable for the constraints we are limited by. We recognise the role of the systems created to keep us all safe but often times lead to the oppression of people. We understand the need for a system and to follow some order and to follow some format. This keeps us in line and makes sure we understand the provisions provided. We respect it and we adhere to it - full stop.

However we also respond and relate to the system which controls us beyond what is reasonable. We believe it is people first - not policy first.

We believe it is law and protocol first - not people first - when it relates to important issues like the legal industry and this is how we have been led to live our lives. To believe that we should adhere to a structure of the law which in modern times, post Covid, doesn’t still seem to fit.

We believe we have a responsibility as humans, as lawyers, as women and men, as mothers and fathers, as children and grandchildren and sisters and brothers and colleagues to understand the issues with the current structure of the law and its systems around how we work.

These are -

The often condescending nature of those in ‘power ‘ - they preach to follow format which indeed isn’t followed from the top.

We know and recognise the issues of significant lapses in the mental health of lawyers throughout the industry. Why? Because they are overworked and paid far less than those others within the industry. They are paid less than - the agents whom sell the houses, probate lawyers who work hard to organise the estate of those passed away and supporting their families, we are paid less than those who wish to serve in the armed forces per file per matter. The issue with this is this -

We continue to demean and belittle those working within conveyancing as though it is nothing.

No we are not comparing the conveyancing process to going to war. We are providing an understanding of the context. We deal with people who are stressed and nervous and anxious everyday whilst navigating the conveyancing process. The implications whilst not seen are this -

We struggle to maintain hefty work loads because we carry the energy of those who are lost in a sea of admin and constraints.

We fail to be able to navigate life with balance because we, as good lawyers, want to do the best for our clients but cannot control the external outcome of that. We can’t do right for doing wrong. We do one thing and it’s an issue with one person. We do another it’s fine for them. We cannot know the response - we adhere with it anyway. We deal with the regular complaints about the money being paid - this is industry wide in any firm at any price in any measure. No one escapes this. Everyone believing that lawyers work for too much money whilst their home lives are mitigated by extensively wanting to do their absolute best and knowing they didn’t sit with their child at dinner last night.

The reality is this - we are doing the impossible. The impossible everyday. This is not a comparable with any other industry who no doubt have their issues and their problems but we speak for lawyers. We know the issues of lawyers. We know the context of the conversation around lawyers and law firms. We know most lawyers are too bogged down by legal work that they fail to remember they’re a business. A platform for growth - that is what a business is.

We support small business.

We support those who want to grow.

Our mission is clear -

We intend and will without any question- to change the structure of the conveyancing industry for good.

How?

Well

First we intend to replicate the provisions around the Home buying and selling reform which was announced in June 2026 (but discussed long before this ) and indeed for the most part we are almost half way there. We have -

Organised the structure for conveyancing which looks like -

Quicker time frames for all. Whilst we have faced issues because of course we are one firm, working one day, we have faced issues because no one else has caught up.

We have cut out minimal delays and extensive delays.

We don’t communicate where communcation isn’t needed.

We have worked extensively to incorporate systems which both effect the quick installation of consultants onto our systems. But also we worked on and continue to work on the installation of systems which help our clients.

How we do that?

We continue to mitigate unnecessary systems and organisation which isn’t needed

We don’t use unnecessary paper trails - we keep what’s needed, we use what’s needed

We are electronic - for the most part. We only work with systems which are modern day and work to prevent the extensive and unnecessary delays to clients and the work we do.

We want our consultants to have a life. That being said - we often want to work and to do the best we can for you however when ‘having a life ‘ we can organise our time to feel better for you. We can feel refreshed and centred

We pay properly and well. Our clients benefit from consultants who get paid. Why is that important ? Because we want to make sure our consultants are not full of resentment . Why is that important ? Because if they are - they don’t serve you properly and well.

And if they serve you properly and well they organise time to make sure they provide the absolute best service possible.

We know you’re worried about money. We have spent extensive time understanding the constraints you’re under to pay for the process of home buying and selling. We know what life costs today. We know also that your home is one of the most valuable assets you will ever have.

We ask our clients to pay alongside the usual process. That means on account at all times. We want to move your matter on. If we are worried about the implications of holding monies on file for you for prolonged periods we cannot provide the best service possible. Worry amounts to stress, stress amounts to poor service. The cycle goes on.

When paid enough, we feel fairly treated. When paid enough for the hours of time spent navigating systems, providing extensive advice, dealing with the provisions of the SRA, and cilex and all other legalisation which must follow - we are happier, we are more efficient.

It is basic psychology. The psychology of money is this -

The better you are treated.

The better you treat others.

The better you move clients matters on.

The less stress they feel.

The less stress consultants feel.

The more organised the team is.

The more we can help and serve you and others.

It is our aspiration to enhance the conveyancing process ten fold. We have made our mark. We will continue to do so until our process is rolled out in every firm nationwide.

Why?

Because we speak for all. And whilst they may not have seen or recognised anything we have said so far. We have no doubt that they will.

The more powerful one is, the more they can lift and uplift others. That is clients. That is consultants. That is other law firms. That is everyone we come into contact with everyday.

The housing reform has happened.

It is here at Trueman Bailey.

We will continue to share more on the developments over time.
